How to use Walgreens
Walgreens drug store is a pretty strait forward store to use. No card needed! But it can get a little tricky if you don't know the "tricks"
So Walgreens offers Rebate Rewards. There are coupons that print out after you buy a specific item.
Lets say you see a deal that says buy this product for 3.99 and get 3.99 in rebate rewards (RR)
This means you buy that product and an instant coupon for 3.99 will print out at the register. This coupon can be used on any other purchase. It can not be used on tobacco, gift cards or liquor. Some states let you use it on milk others do not. It will NOT cover tax. You will be taxed on the sale price of what you buy. This depends on your state laws. Other than that you can use it on anything.
Now Walgreens also has Walgreens coupons. These can be emailed to you if you sign up for their emails. These can also be found in the store. Normally there are booklets that have all the coupons in them and they are found on the same rack as the weekly adds.
SOME walgreens let you use one Walgreens coupon WITH a manufacture coupon. You can tell if it's a Walgreens coupon by looking at the top center. It will say Manufacture or Walgreens.
Check with your store on their policy for this.
Next you have to have the same number of coupons as you have items. If not you will not be able to use all your coupons. Often there are "fillers" these are little things you find to make the right number of items for all your coupons to work. You can find pencils for .20 or a pack of gum, whatever is the least amount of cash to make your deal work.
So lets say you want to buy that 3.99 sale item with 3.99 RR.
You have a 1.00 manufacture coupon
and you have 2.00 in RR that you got from last week
And you found a 1.00 off that item walgreens coupon.
You find single pens on sale for .10 each and grab 2
(By grabbing the pens you now have the same number of items as you do coupons)
your total will be $4.19
hand over 4.00 in coupons
you will pay 0.19 + tax
after you pay you will get back a RR for 3.99
Make since?
Now a side note about these RR. These coupons print out much like the coupons at your grocery store. ( you know the little machine that prints out coupons that they give you with your receipt sometimes)
Check with your grocery stores to see if they will take RR as competitor coupons. This depends on your state and your grocery store. My store here will take competitor coupons and they consider Walgreens a competitor. So if I can't find anything good to spend my RR on before they expire at Walgreens , I head on over to my grocery store and pick up chicken or ground turkey for super cheep using my RR. This is a total YMMV ( your Mileage May Vary) but it never hurts to ask your grocery stores coupon policy. It may turn out be be better than you thought it was.
